My experience with NuVet Plus:
I am usually very skeptical when it comes to extraordinary claims regarding supplements. Even though I take a whole food vitamin supplement everyday, I never really thought about doing the same for my dogs. I have always fed high quality dog foog--I am very particular regarding dog food--no by-products, no corn or wheat, and make sure that the primary ingredient is meat. (If you knew what goes into most commercial dog foods--"by-products" that are rejected from the human food industry, and fillers that take the place of more nutritional ingredients--you would probably never feed your dog a grocery store brand again!) I even supplemented with another "show supplement" as an adjunct to a good, high quality dog food.
It was after one of my bitches had weaned a litter of puppies and I was unable to keep weight on her that I tried NuVet Plus. Sydney was about 4 weeks post-weaning of her puppies and would not eat.
I had supplemented her feed with Puppy Gold while she was in whelp and until weaning to prevent weight loss. I had tried everything I knew of to get her to eat. Canned food had always worked in the past--I even made her a homemade diet of chicken and ground beef (and sometimes grilled sirloin!). I top dressed her meal with goat's milk, but day after day, she still did not eat and continued to drop weight. I began to think that she must be missing something in her diet, so I added probiotics and JuicePlus for dogs. After another two weeks, I was getting desperate.
Then I remembered that a breeder friend had told me about a supplement that she was using called NuVet Plus. I ordered my first bottle, and after the second day on NuVet Plus, Sydney started eating. There was a noticeable difference in her condition after about one week, and within two weeks she was starting to really look good and had regained most of her weight. I now have all my dogs on NuVet Plus, and have seen improvements in coat condition, vibrance, and relief from chronic diarrhea. Several friends that have tried NuVet Plus upon my recommendation have reported improvement of symptoms from seasonal allergies and increased energy level in their pets.
After speaking with several breeders who also use this supplement and hearing the results they have experienced, I now believe so strongly in it that I am going to require it in the future as part of my puppy health guarantee. I truly believe that MANY of the diseases that plague our pets are preventable with proper nutrition and disease fighting properties of antioxidants, and I want my puppies to have every opportunity in life. Most commercial dog foods, although claiming to be "complete and balanced", do not provide everything that is necessary for optimal health. I have no control over what my little puppies are fed or where they run and play once they leave me, but NuVet Plus allows me to do one more thing for them during their lifetime, by boosting their immune system and helping to fill in the nutritional gap left by commercial dog food. The cost is nominal compared to a lifetime of health and fewer visits to the vet!
